Lead Safe Renovation, Repair, and Painting

The Iowa Department of Public Health Bureau of Lead Poisoning Prevention is responsible for administration and enforcement of the lead poisoning program throughout the state. Visit their website here.

The Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) rule has been law since April 22, 2010. Click here for our handout describing the requirements of the RRP rule.  

The City of Cedar Rapids Housing Services in conjunction with Linn County Public Health, provide training required for certification as an Iowa Lead Safe Renovator for individuals involved in renovation, remodeling, and painting of structures built before 1978. Training Calendar for 2016

Below is the training schedule for Lead Safe Renovator Initial and Refresher classes conducted by the City of Cedar Rapids Housing in partnership with Linn County Public Health.  A minimum of 10 individuals must be registered and paid for class to be held.  

The Iowa Department of Public Health maintains a calendar for all training that is held in the State of Iowa by approved trainers. Training options include initial and refresher training for abatement contractor, abatement worker; initial and refresher lead safe renovator; inital and refresher sampling technician; initial and refresher elevated blood lead inspector/risk assessor.
